Sustainability Policy
It’s really important to me that my brand is as eco-friendly as possible. I’m in no way perfect but it’s always at the front of my mind when I design new products and source materials. I’m constantly researching better practises and looking for ways to improve, any suggestions are welcome!
I believe businesses should be more transparent with their customers which is why I've noted below the actions I have taken so far for my brand and will continue to update it as I evolve.
Keeping it Local
All my products have been designed, printed and packaged in the UK by myself (Catherine). All my current suppliers are based in the UK.
Frames
All the frames used for my original art and framed prints have been carefully sourced by myself and are all second hand - purchased from a range of locations including charity shops, antique fairs and car boot sales. I try to pick empty frames or ones with damaged art inside but if it's in good condition I will find another home for it (donating it back to a charity shop for example). Each product will include a more detailed description about the materials used.
Paper & Printing
The paper (and pens) I draw my originals on are bought from a local, independent art shop. I use Daler Rowney, smooth heavyweight drawing paper (220gsm and acid-free). The paper I use for my prints is a fine art, textured paper bought from an online supplier in the UK. I currently print your art prints myself at home which reduces waste as I print to order.
Packaging
Prints are wrapped in 100% biodegradable and compostable cello bags. The bags will break down to CO2 and water and this will happen in either in-home or commercial composting or landfill. I use stickers that are printed on 100% recycled waste paper and can be recycled after use. My tissue paper is acid-free, biodegradable and recyclable after use. Orders are sent out in recyclable cardboard postage envelopes or small boxes. These can either be re-used or recycled.
I also try to re-use as much packaging that I receive as possible so you might notice your order comes in a different brand's box or with bubble wrap. I encourage you to re-use this or recycle it.
